Guns N’ Roses Bangalore ConcertGuns N’ Roses (GNR) is planning a tour of India in November 2009.

The heavy rockers, fronted by Axl Rose, have signed on to perform at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore Nov 7, reported contactmusic.com.

‘It is true that we are bringing Guns N’ Roses to India. As of now, I can tell you that the Bangalore concert has been confirmed. We’re still in talks with people in Mumbai and Delhi, so let’s hope that works out. However, there is a good chance we can take the band to Shillong as well,’ said Raj Sinha, director of Rhapsody Inc., the company organising the Bangalore concert. (more…)

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) The Delhi Cabinet today approved enhanced pay package for around 4,000 employees of government power companies.

The Cabinet accepted the recommendations of a wage revision committee that suggested slightly better pay package for the power companies than the recommendations of the sixth Central Pay Commission, officials said. (more…)

The armed forces have asked the government to withdraw a controversial order stopping Lt Colonels from being sent on deputation. In a letter dated January 14, a copy of which is with India Today, the services say that not doing so will cause man management problems and reduce the army’s combat worthiness. (more…)

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has announced that it will crack down on unaided primary schools that are recognized by the corporation if they raise their fees. There are a total of 750 schools that fall under this category. So far, the MCD has not sent out notices to any school.

Standing committee chairman Vijender Gupta promised several steps to keep schools in check. “We will come out with a proforma that schools will fill out and also conduct random checks of the balance sheets of these schools,” Gupta said on Wednesday. (more…)

DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand cabinet on Wednesday extended the benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission to all government-aided school staff both teaching and non-teaching. This will benefit 7,200 teachers and 4,000 non-teaching staff of overnment-aided schools besides pensioners.

The move comes following a prolonged agitation by the teachers and non-teaching staff of aided schools who were left out of the ambit of the Sixth Pay Commission. (more…)
