Chennai (PTI): The Tamil Nadu Government on Wednesday announced that it will issue “necessary orders” over implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission for state government officials after considering a committee report in this regard.
The committee appointed by the state government for this purpose, headed by Home Secretary S Malathy, submitted its report to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the Secretariat, a state government release said here. (more…)

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console has sold over 28 million units worldwide, 8 million more than the Sony Playstation 3.
According to figures from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 is ahead of the Playstation 3 by one million units in Europe and by 7 million in the US.
However, both consoles are being outsold by the Nintendo Wii, which sold 3 million units in the UK and 10.17 million in the US last year. (more…)

VARANASI: A number of schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the district witnessed 100 per
cent passing results in the senior school certificate examination (Class XII) announced on Friday.
While the schools including Delhi Public School (DPS), Varanasi, The Aryan International School, Little Flower House and Sunbeam Academy witnessed 100 per cent results, other schools including Dr Amrit Lal Ishrat Memorial Sunbeam School (DALIMSS), Sigra, Sunbeam School, Bhagwanpur and Sunbeam School, Lahartara followed them closely with 99.9 per cent, 99.7 per cent and 99.4 per cent passing results respectively. The CET 2009 results will be declared on May 25. Friday will be the last date to submit marksheets for CBSE 12 and ISC students. Karnataka Examination Authority officer S P Kulkarni said KEA received around 800 marksheets from the students.
