Actress Natasha Richardson has died in a New York hospital after a skiing accident in Canada which left her with head injuries.
Her husband actor Liam Neeson released a statement saying the family were “shocked and devastated” by the tragedy.
The 45 year old is the daughter of star Vanessa Redgrave and director Tony Richardson. Her sister is actress Joely Richardson.
Natasha fell on a beginners slope during a skiing lesson in Quebec, Canada on Monday. Initially she felt fine but was later rushed to hospital after complaining of severe headaches.
She reportedly suffered a microscopic tear to an artery in her head. Richardson and Neeson have two young sons.
