Jammu, Mar 3 : After being unsatisfied by replies of Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather to questions regarding implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations, the entire opposition walked out of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly today.

Replying to a question by the BJP and PDP MLAs – Jugal Kishore and Gaffar Sofi – during question hour, Rather said that the state government has already announced that the 6th pay panel recommendations would be implemented in the state from July one this year.

He said that as per information available, apart from the Central government, nine states have so far implemented the 6th pay commission report.

They were Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, New Delhi, Karnataka, Mizoram, Tripura, Maharashtra and Bihar, he said adding that the Gujarat government has implemented the recommendations in toto.

Admitting that work in government offices had been badly affected by the recent employees’ strike demanding pay commission implementation, he said the government was forced to accept their demands despite a bad financial situation.

He, however, said that he has no knowledge about the promises made by the political parties in their election manifestos about the issue.(MORE)
