Allahabad: Salary of 2 lakh officers disbursed from the emergency fund
The financial burden caused by the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission appears to have hit the state police hard, with the salary of the officers now being disbursed from the Treasury Roll (TR-27) in 70 districts of the state. (more…)

Employees plan 3-day halt from Feb 16
Srinagar/ Jammu, Feb 11: The two-day strike of government employees continued on Wednesday with all government offices and public sector undertakings remaining shut across the State. Meanwhile, Joint Coordination Committee – an amalgam of all gazetted and non-gazetted employee associations from all three regions of the State announced a three day strike from February 16 to protest against State government’s non-seriousness about implementation of 6th Pay Commission recommendations. Bhubaneswar: Maintaining the law and order situation in Orissa may take a beating with more than 40,000 havildars, constables and sepoys of the state police threatening to go on mass casual leave from any day before February 18, demanding better pay revision as per the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
The state Government’s problems may worsen with the fire service personnel also agitating over the non-revision of their pay scales. (more…)

Itanagar, Feb. 11: The Arunachal Pradesh government has invoked the provisions of Essential Service Maintenance (Arunachal Pradesh) Act, 1993 (Esma), against the agitating employees in a bid to dissuade them from continuing the third phase of an indefinite strike that began on February 5. (more…)

Data released today from Compete.com supports what will not be a surprise to most. Facebook is the most visited social network, with nearly 1.2 billion visits in January 2009. This also represents significant growth, with visits to Facebook up 36% on December, and 256% over the previous twelve months. MySpace slipped into second place at the end of 2008 and since September of that year has been seeing visits levelling at about 810 thousand a month. (more…)
