Maharashtra cabinet today cleared the proposal to implement the recommendations of sixth pay commission from the April 1st putting the additional burden of 8091 crore on the state finances which are under strain due to loan waiver and tax revenues drying up to due to recession.
The state cabinet’s decision will bring cheers to 14 lakh employees of the state government and seven-lakh pensioners who are going to get pay hike between 20 to 25 per cent. The state government will get benefit of the pay commission’s recommendation from April 06. (more…)

PUNE: Poor pay scale has always been the reason cited for corruption in government offices. Although the State government on Wednesday decided to implement the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission for its employees, a cross section of people believe the move is unlikely to play any major role in increasing efficiency and curbing corruption. NAGPUR: The decision of Maharashtra government to implement the recommendations of the sixth pay commission has brought cheers to many staffers
and disappointment to some others. However, what had not been foreseen was discontent in certain sections despite hike in salary as some would reportedly benefit more than others. (more…)

Different associations of the Gujarat Electricity Board have approached the state government for the implementation of the sixth pay commission and other demands.
Eight Associations were led by the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) Engineers’ Association. The Sixth Pay Commission recommendations are due from January 1, 2006. (more…)

PUNE: The Maharashtra Pensioners’ Association (MPA) has opposed the state government’s decision to pay arrears of the sixth pay commission to pensioners in five instalments over the next five years. The arrears are for the duration of 39 months from January 2006 onwards.
The association has demanded that the payment must be made in accordance with the union government’s decision to pay arrears in two instalments in as many years. (more…)

Tata Nano bookings about to open – booking amount Rs.70,000
The wait is finally over! Tata Motors begins bookings for the world’s most awaited model by end of February 2009. The booking amount for the world’s cheapest car will be Rs. 70,000. However, even after paying nearly 70 percent of the total cost, the wait for the final delivery of the car may be quite long. The company is starting bookings for the ultra cheap car within the next weeks.
Coming three weeks, Tata dealers along with State Bank of India branches across the country will accept bookings for Tata Nano. The company has engaged around 100 branches of State Bank of India which will be eventually increased to 1000 branches pan India. (more…)
