It’s my birthday today (woot), so India is celebrating by debuting a prototype of their $20 laptop during a National Mission on Education launch in Tirupati. Los Angeles, Feb 3 (PTI) After photos of him smoking marijuana surfaced in the British newspaper ‘News of the World’ Olympic Gold medal winner Michael Phelps has acknowledged the authenticity of the photographs while apologising for the “youthful and inappropriate ” behaviour, reported People magazine.
“I engaged in behaviour which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,” the Olympic swimming champion said Sunday in a statement released by his marketing agency ‘Octagon’. (more…)
Manufacturers in India are currently in the process of developing an extremely inexpensive laptop computer for students.
The computer will cost a mere twenty dollars and is expected to compete in the market with the One Laptop and Intel low budget laptop computers.
The Indian-made device will be WiFi enabled and the laptop comes with a 2Gigabyte internal memory. It appears there will not be many more applications loaded onto the laptop. (more…)

The credit crunch computer is set to arrive tomorrow in India when officials unveil the 500 rupee (£7.25) laptop. In an attempt to bridge the “digital divide” in the country between rich and poor, the government will show off the prototype, low-cost laptop as the centrepiece of an ambitious e-learning programme to link 18,000 colleges and 400 universities across the country.
