The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday said it was still in talks with Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar for his future with the team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) second edition which will start on April 10.

Reacting to reports that the injury-prone fast bowler has been released by the Kolkata franchise, Knight Riders CEO Joy Bhattacharya on Sunday said nothing has been finalised as yet.

Apparently, Akhtar’s future with KKR is all but over and the team is finalising on his dues by having talks.

“We are still in talks with Shoaib …. I cannot say anything beyond that. However, at the moment, I can assure you that nothing has been finalised,” Bhattacharya told PTI.

Reports today claimed that the KKR has released the Pakistani pacer and has paid him his dues.

The KKR management had earlier announced that the controversial pacer, who played just a few matches last season, was on sale.

But with no other franchise showing any interest in buying Akhtar, KKR apparently are in talks with the pacer to finalise his dues.
