KANPUR: Joy, ecstasy and euphoric celebrations for government employees was the scene, after news of increase in Sixth Pay Commission was announced. The premises of KDA and KNN were swarmed by happy employees.

Celebrations abounded with fire-crackers, sweets and flowers as KNN, KDA employees hugged each other. Welcoming CM’s decision, a fourth class employee exulted and greeted CM in Hindi-cum-English tenor. He said, “Ham bahut happy feel kar rahe hain. Thank you, Behenji”. His salary is expected to rise from current pay band of Rs 2,550 to revised Rs 4,400 after Rizvi Committee Recommendations will be implemented.

Another employee added,”last year my son was born and this year my salary increased.” Promising better delivery of services to public and no boycott of work for time being, Bachau Singh, a employee leader said,”it has mobilised us and we will deliver better services to public.”

However, happiness was mixed with some resentment also. Singh said, “while our other units will be reaping the maximum of hike, the employees of KDA will not be getting due advantages as they have been deprived of time-bound increase in salary for past 25 years. We hope appropriate action is taken.”
