BHUBANESWAR: The Fitment Committee headed by Development Commissioner RN Bohidar has reportedly finalised its report recommending revised payscale for the State Government employees as per the recommendation of the Sixth Pay Commission.
The committee is likely to submit its report to the Government within a week even as Bohidar joined his new assignment as member of the Orissa State Human Rights Commission, knowledgeable sources said.
The committee was given three months to submit its report.
While members of the committee are tightlipped on the recommendations, the sources said that the report after submission to the Chief Minister will go to the Finance Department for further examination.
The Finance Department will place the report before the State Cabinet for approval.
The Government set up the Fitment Committee on September 6 to study the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission and the likely impact on the State exchequer if its recommendations are implemented.
The committee received memoranda from Government employees service associations and discussed pay anomalies between the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission and the revised salaries paid to various categories of employees and other complaints relating to cadre restructuring and pay fixation accordingly from October 23 to November 4.
According to preliminary estimate, the likely additional financial impact on the State will be to the tune of Rs 1,400 crore annually if the Pay Commission recommendations are implemented in toto.
Besides, the State will have to incur an expenditure of another Rs 2,100 crore as arrear dues as the revised pay will be implemented from January 1, 2006.
Home Secretary TK Mishra, Water Resources Secretary Aurobinda Behera, Agriculture Secretary UP Singh, Finance Special Secretary DP Dash and additional secretary KC Mishra are the other members of the committee.
