Bhubaneswar (Orissa): The State Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved the supplementary Budget-2008-09 for the State. More than Rs 7,250 crore has been placed in the Budget.
The Budget has made allocation for facilitating the implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Pay panel. Earlier on Monday, the Fitment Committee had recommended to the State to implement the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission. (more…)
New Delhi, Nov 18: With a ministerial committee set up to resolve the four pay commission issues delaying a decision, the Armed Forces have strongly conveyed to the government that there should be “no dilution” on their demands concerning their officers and jawans.
“We have re-conveyed to the government that there should be no dilution as far as the four core issues are concerned relating to the Sixth Pay Commission notification issued in August this year,” Armed Forces officers told reporters today. (more…)
New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki’s compact A-Star, which will be launched in October, is expected to surpass the earlier strict emission norms announced by the company.

New Delhi: Many of the five million government employees are yet to receive the retroactive portion of a salary hike that came into effect from January 2006 after the Union government implemented the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations.
The employees started getting a new salary from 1 September, but the delay in clearing the so-called arrears is causing some angst among employees, many of whom live in states where elections are being held now. (more…)

Under the banner of All Orissa Non-Government College Teachers and Employees Association, the members met at its 6th annual conference at Rourkela where they discussed the long-pending demands like release of grant-in-aid to teachers and employees appointed before December 31, 1998 instead of 40 per cent block grant, promotion of State scale lecturers, extension of the UGC benefits, implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations. The metal sector reported good topline numbers for the quarter ended September ’08. But higher input costs pulled down the operating profit margins (OPM) of companies. In line with past records, the growth in ferrous companies was higher than that seen in non-ferrous companies. The ferrous segment recorded net sales growth of 43.8% compared to the same period last year. (more…)
