Auto maker to perk up sales figures with the help of govt. employees

Despite the drop in sales of automobiles in general, Hyundai India and Maruti Suzuki have pushed volumes by offering heavy discounts to government employees in the country.

The automobile majors decided to en cash on the revised salary and the sixth pay Commission. HMIL achieved three times the normal month’s sale to government employees by selling 3,000 units under their scheme.

The special discounts available range from Rs 10,000 on the i10 to Rs 31,000 on the Verna, and are still applicable. The company has tied up with State Bank of India, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank to provide with attractive finance schemes exclusively for government employees.

The scheme was a success partly due to promotional activities and State Bank of India’s active participation in the scheme. Besides this a scheme named ‘Wheels Of India’ has been initiated by Maruti Suzuki, and has achieved the sale of 12,000 units to government employees.
