Sixth Central Pay Commission: Railway engineers resent anomalies

21 Oct 2008

BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway Engineers Association (ECoREA) has protested anomalies in the Sixth Central Pay Commission and discriminatory attitude of the Railway administration.

The members sported black badges and took out a rally as part of the All India Railway Engineers Federation’s Protest Day observance recently.

Submitting a memorandum to the chief personnel officer on behalf of General Manager, ECoR, the association lamented that the engineers are directly involved in maintaining safety and economic prosperity of Indian Railways but are being neglected.

While engineers of Central and State governments have been given assured promotions from JE to executive engineer level, the subordinate engineers continue to languish in Group C cadre throughout their career, they alleged.
