Bangalore: Busting crackers inseparable part of Deepavali festival in India. All households in cities and villages are found busy in busting crackers and exchanging Deepavali greetings.

Residents of the City are seen standing on top of the buildings to see bursting of crackers and colorful skies. Young and old fired rockets and flower pots and enjoyed the colorful festival with religious vigor and spirit.

People wore new clothes after oil bath in the morning. They offered prayers at temples and placed light candles and traditional lamps in front of their houses. Cell phones keep on ringing through out the day to greet us a “Happy Deepavali”. (more…)

Bangalore, Oct 28 (IANS) The successful launch of India’s first lunar mission Chandrayaan-1 has inspired many Indian space scientists working abroad to return home for a promising career in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), a top official said.”Our moon mission has aroused tremendous interest in the scientific community the world over. The launch has made many overseas Indian space scientists think of returning and working in our organisation to further their career prospects,” the official told IANS. (more…)

New Delhi, Oct 28, 2008: If all goes well the university teachers will be paid 40 percent pay arrears in November. It must come as a Divali gift for most of teachers who still don’t seem to have any idea as to when they will start receiving the revised pay scale. (more…)

The armed forces have vigorously protested against the implementation of Sixth Pay Commission’s report citing gross discrimination.

They say the civil servants are misleading the government about the armed forces’ genuine representation. The lieutenant commanders are placed at lower pay band while equivalent civilians are placed in higher pay band. (more…)

Sixth Pay Commission: Truth deficit

The finance minister has finally admitted that the Government will not meet its deficit targets this year. He said that India

“may overshoot” its targets, which is a little like saying that Jaipur lies “just beyond” Gurgaon. The apparent justification

for his attempt to minimise the fiscal irresponsibility that has caused India’s public debt to balloon is that he expects the

fiscal deficit, which is supposed to be not more than 2.5 per cent of national income this year, to be only a few tenths of a

percentage point higher. In fact, P. Chidambaram managed to sound almost self-congratulatory about it. This is an

unacceptable sleight of hand. (more…)

Sixth Pay Commission: Govt accepts Pay Panel proposal for deceased soldiers

New Delhi, Oct 23: This is one proposal of the 6th Central Pay Commission which is likely to bring cheer to the ruing armed forces personnel.

The government has accepted a CPC recommendation that the state exchequer bear the travel cost of deceased personnel’s family members from the place of death to his village or funeral site. (more…)

Sixth Central Pay Commission: Railway engineers resent anomalies

BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway Engineers Association (ECoREA) has protested anomalies in the Sixth Central Pay Commission and discriminatory attitude of the Railway administration.
