Abu Dhabi/Doha: When the results of the 10th and 12th standard CBSE Board exams were declared there was a sense of jubilation and pride. The performance of students in general was good and some Mangalorean and Goan children in particular were outstanding. Their efforts and sacrifice paid off and they emerged triumphant. Though there are many more students of Mangalorean origin who have excelled in the CBSE exams with scoring high marks, here we introduce those children who have submitted their details to us.

Stacey Stella Pinto

Stacey Stella Pinto a student of Sunrise English Private School Abu Dhabi UAE, stood first in her school by scoring 91.4 per cent in the CBSE Class X 2008 examinations.

She is the daughter of Joseph and Suzana Jancita Pinto from Salcette Goa, residing in Abu Dhabi UAE. Stacey has always stood first in her class right from Kindergarten till 10th standard says Suzana the proud mother of an achiever. She has an elder brother Jason Cletus Pinto, who was also an achiever in the same school. He scored 91.2% in the CBSE Class X 2003 examinations. He is now pursuing Mechanical Engineering in Belgaum India. Stacey has taken part in sports and extra curricular activities in school and Inter school level and has won several prizes. She is a very good speaker, an ace champion and loves to play Badminton.

Her hobbies and interests are drawing, painting, reading, writing and elocution. She has taken up science stream (Physics, Biology and Maths) and is currently pursuing her studies in the same school. She is planning to take up medicine (genetics) later on after completing her XII.

Joy Winston D’Souza

Joy Winston D’Souza is the son of Walter D’Souza (Pernal) and Janette D’Souza (nee Sequeira, Damaskatte). He has an elder brother Jim Walton D’Souza, and a younger sister Jean Welwyn D’Souza, studying in 8th standard in ADIS.

Jim stood 2nd in the school with 93% aggregate in 12th std CBSE Board Exam in 2006 and currently pursuing Computer Science Engineering in NIT-Tiruchirapally, Tamil Nadu.

Joy studied in St.Joseph’s School, Abu Dhabi from K.G till 4th standard. From 5th standard onwards, he studied in Abu Dhabi Indian School. He scored 91.8% aggregate in 12th standard CBSE Board exam in 2008 with 94.3% in PCM and topped the boy’s section of the school.

Apart from studies Joy is actively involved in many extra curricular activities. He has won Sastra Pratibha Award in 2007 in a talent search conducted by Vijnana Bharati and Science India Forum and emerged as a topper in U.A.E. He has Participated and has won many quiz contests throughout school life and has held the position of Vice Captain during 2006-07 and Sports Secretary during 2007-08 of Summer House in the boy’s section of the school. He is the Member of Mensa International. Joy likes to listening music, reading, playing chess and graphic design in Photoshop.

He has also won many certificates and medals in Table Tennis in various inter-school and zonal level competitions. He also loves to play football, basketball, badminton and swimming.

When asked about his future plan, Joy said that he is planning on pursuing Computer Science Engineering at NIT-Surathkal, Mangalore.

Tiffany Rose D’Souza

Tiffany Rose D’Souza, daughter of Oswald Movin D’Souza and Sharon Prisca D’Souza has made everyone proud in the 12th standard CBSE board exams in the Commerce Stream of Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS).

She scored an aggregate of 86.8 percent and secured a third position in ADIS. She has two elder sisters – Tamsyn, who had also taken the third rank in grade 12 (2003) and Tacita ( Ex-students of A.D.I.S).

She has bagged several medals and certificates in quiz competition and various other extra curricular activities. She was a student of ILA, now known as ICK Abu Dhabi (kindergarten) and she studied in ADIS from Grade 1 onwards.

Her hobbies include Swimming ( She has taken part in the Inter house competitions ever since 3rd grade as well as a couple of Inter school competitons held in Dubai) , Cooking and Baking , Dancing and occasional reading.

Tiffany will be pursuing Undergraduate Degree in Human Resource Management from Murdoch University in Perth, Australia.
