Hyderabad: Bangalore Royal Challengers registered a dramatic victory over Deccan Chargers with 6 balls to spare. Bangalore Royal Challengers took home the win by five wickets. It was B Akhil”s commendable batting towards the end that yeilded 27 runs off 7 balls that made the win look an easy target.
Earlier,Virat Kohli was caught by Ravi Teja on Chaminda Vaas’ ball. After 17.4 overs, Bangalore were 146/5. Rahul Dravid was caught behind by Gilchrist on Sanjay Bangar’s delivery.
Misbah-ul Haq gave an easy catch to Chamara Silva on Ravi Teja’s delivery. Jaffer, who was running for Kallis, failed to beat the throw from Chamara Silva and was run out.
Wasim Jaffer misjudged his running between the wickets and was run out. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Deccan Chargers were able to post 165 runs on the board in 20 overs.
Deccan Chargers, though, were off to a cautious and steady start as openers Adam Gilchrist and Herschelle Gibbs gathered 101 runs in first 11.1 overs. Herschelle Gibbs was, then, stumped by Shreevats Goswami on Kumble’s delivery. Gibbs made 47 runs.
Adam Gilchrist headed back to the pavilion as he was caught by Balachandra Akhil on Vinay Kumar’s delivery. He made 46 runs. Rohit Sharma was then caught by Goswami as Deccan’s hope of posting a huge total on board looked bleak.
Chamara Silva and Vinay Kumar were dismissed in successive overs as Deccan Chargers’ score read 123/4 in 15 overs. Virat Kohli clean bowled Ravi Teja as Deccan Chargers lost half of their side. After 18 overs, Chargers were 158/5.
Venugopal Rao, who added a few runs to the total, gave an easy catch to Jaffer and Sanjay Bangar were dismissed in a hurry. After 19 overs, Chargers were 164/7. Deccan Chargers were soon all-out for the score of 165.
Earlier, Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat against Bangalore Royal Challengers. For Deccans, Chaminda Vaas and Arjun Yadav make a come back in place of Scott Styris and Pravin Ojha while Bangalore Royal Challengers brought in Wasim Jaffer and Cameron White in place of Mark Boucher and Praveen Kumar.
Deccan Chargers face the challenge to win the first IPL T20 match at the home ground.
