Renee Zellweger is happy without a fixed abode - insisting she doesn’t need a home to feel settled. The Bridget Jones star recently sold her house in California and put all of her possessions into storage, because she felt her life as a movie star meant she didn’t spend enough time there to justify the hefty mortgage.

Priscilla Presley has confirmed an unqualified plastic surgeon performed a botched cosmetic procedure on her in 2003. The socialite and actress, who is among the celebrities taking part in the current season of Dancing With The Stars, was a client of Dr. Daniel Serrano, who was jailed for injecting industrial, low-grade silicone into women’s faces.

The unlicensed Serrano claimed his injections worked better than Botox, but the non-approved drug he smuggled into America from Argentina left some clients with holes in their faces and paralysis.

Serrano was indicted for smuggling drugs, and the conspiracy and use of unapproved drugs, and convicted.

Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson further fueled speculation about their renewed romance by spending the Easter weekend together in Miami, Florida. The couple and Hudson’s son Ryder were spotted sunbathing and bike riding around the Biscayne Bay on Saturday.

Hudson and Wilson met on the set of 2006 movie You, Me & Dupree and were romantically linked later that year, after Hudson split from her husband of six years, The Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson.

Hudson and Wilson reportedly ended their relationship in June 2007, just two months before Wilson’s alleged attempted suicide.

Local American idol

The runners-up in last year's "Hopkinton Idol" event, (from left) Joanna Schell and Amber Manter, join top finisher Sasha Yatchenko.

Hopkinton has voted. Shrewsbury has, too. Their “American Idol”-style contests are safe. Both competitions return this year (auditions start next week), and though their reach may be smaller, both aim for all of the hit network television show’s big-time glitz, glam, and rigor. Then they refine it with a little small-town heart.

more stories like thisNeither “Hopkinton Idol” nor “Shrewsbury Idol” have slapped on the “Idol” name solely for attention (such as my favorite: “Equestrian Idol,” held by a Florida horse club) or for profit (perhaps like Edy’s new American Idol ice cream, which asks you to vote for your favorite flavor).

Rather, both nonprofit contests sincerely aim to cultivate area talent (town residency is not required to compete) using the “Idol” format. So they’re staging multiweek shows on local-access cable TV, where judging is live, audience voting decides, and the winners walk off with a potentially music-career-launching prize (such as a recording session). In short, they mirror their Hollywood namesake in every way but one.

Amanda Overmyer

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rocker Amanda Overmyer got the boot from “American Idol”’s huge fan base on Wednesday, leaving 10 finalists singing their way to possible victory in the hit TV talent show’s seventh season.

The vote by millions of “Idol’s” viewers for their favorite singers left Overmyer, Kristy Lee Cook and Carly Smithson as an all-female bottom three, with Overmyer coming in last.

Overmyer, 23, from Mulberry, Indiana, had performed “Back in the USSR” during a second consecutive week of Beatles-themed singing.

“Idol”’s judges concurred with viewers’ choice of the lowest voter-getters. Asked by host Ryan Seacrest whether “America got it right,” Simon Cowell confirmed, “Two weeks running, yes.”
