Bangalore: October 28, 2007- IR Summary-The Cabinet at the centre on Tuesday approved to impose President’s Rule in Karnataka state, placing the legislative assembly in a suspended status.
Since the BJP had withdrawn their support, Karnataka Governor Tameshwar Thakur , in his 3 page, had no hesitation to send his report to the President and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
The Governor recommended an imposition of central rule immediately after receiving the resignation of Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy of Janata Dal (Secular) on Monday.
President Pratibha Patil has signed the declaration under Article 356 hours after receiving the the recommendtion of the Cabinet to impose for the President rule.
As regards the status of the Karnataka Assembly, Karnataka Governor Tameshwar Thakur had left the option to the Centre whether to dissolve or keep the Assembly under suspended animation.
The Governor has also requested the Centre to depute at least three advisers to help him run the administration after the President rule.
