BANGALORE: The University of Agricultural Sciences here will organise a four-day “Krishi Mela” from November 16 to 19 on its campus in Bangalore.
The highlight of this year’s “Krishi Mela” is the national organic agricultural exhibition being organised on the occasion.
This event would showcase the recent developments, trends and achievements in the field of organic farming.
The show would also serve as a platform for various stakeholders in organic farming, including farmers, research units and traders to display their services and products.

The Young World Quiz is back. It begins tomorrow at Puducherry, and then goes on to Chennai, Bangalore, Mangalore, Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam where the finals will be held on November 21.
At each centre, there will be a written preliminary round to select the six teams for the regional finals. Prizes will be awarded at every stage. Certificates will be given to all participants.

MUMBAI: Wrinkle-reducing drug Botox has so far found more users in the age group of 30 to 40 years in India, despite a marketing campaign and messages targetting people aged above that category.
“In India, the market has been found to be getting younger and a majority of those undergoing cosmetic treatment of Botox are in the age bracket of 30 to 40 years,” Rajinder Nagi of Allergan Inc, manufacturer of the drug said.
“The drug is cleared for patients in the age group of 18 to 65 years and it is targetted at the older segment of the population. But then a lot of people, many of whom are working professionals with large disposable incomes, want to look younger these days,” Nagi said.

Intel is moving into high-volume production of its 45-nanometer chips for servers, PCs, and mobile devices.
Thursday is expected to open a new factory to accelerate the production of chips using a 45-nanometer manufacturing process, slated to be used for its upcoming Penryn chips.
The ‘Fab 32′ in Chandler, Arizona, will use the 45-nm manufacturing process to produce chips for servers, PCs, mobile phones and consumer devices, according to Intel.

The epic film wins the best movie of the year award at the Hollywood Film Fest
Epic film 300 was named the ‘2007 Movie of the Year’ at the 11th Hollywood Film Festival’s Hollywood Awards that was held on October 22.
The film, starring Gerard Butler, beat the likes of Spider-Man 3, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Transformers. The Hollywood World Award was bagged by the Romanian film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, helmed by Cristian Mungiu.

Kolkata: Candidates taking the West Bengal School Service Commission examination and the Council of Scientific and Educational Research (CSIR) examination conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) will have to choose between the two this year.
According to SSC officials, 3,000 students will suffer as the commission’s examination for recruitment in 2008 is on the same day as CISR exam for 2007. However, the SSC is not too keen on deciding on an alternative date.
The CSIR examination will be conducted in chemical, earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary, life, mathematical and physical sciences.

CHANDIGARH: UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) June , 2007 test result was Friday declared by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.
The test was conducted on June 24 this year. It is to be mentioned the University Grants Commission conducts the National Eligibility Test to determine the eligibility for the lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian post graduates. The UGC conducts NET Examination twice a year i.e. in June and December. As per the result declared, 448 candidates have qualified for JRF . These candidates are also eligible for Lectureship. Only 5,344 candidates have qualified for Lectureship.

CHANDIGARH: University Grants Commission (UGC), N.Delhi has declared the result for the National Eligibility Test (NET) held in June for Lecturership and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) here today. This time result has been declared in time while in last years test was declared just few days before next exam.
Mr.Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Educational and Charitable Trust (AECT), an NGO working for awareness on UGC NET told that the candidates can also enquire result on the helpline number of the trust i.e. 099159-22888 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M on Monday. The result is available on www.ugc.ac.in . Kataria, also co-author of country’s best selling kalyani’s book on UGC NET paper-I said that UGC should disclose the result of all the 3 papers individually in the test so that candidates can come to know their flaws. He said that UGC should start issuing detailed marks cards (DMC).”Non qualified candidate never come to know that on which paper they should focus upon” added kataria.
