Edinburgh, Oct.22 : University of Edinburgh engineers have reportedly paved the way for the creation of palm-fitting supercomputers.
According to the BBC, the engineers first studied the behaviour of wires which were 1,000 times thinner than human hair and then created a tool to develop tiny microchips.
Assisted by German and Italian experts, the Scottish experts hope the discovery will eventually lead to medical advances, as well as hand-held PCs and mobile phones that are as powerful as laptops.

Washington, Oct 22 : South Korean mobile giant Pantech has launched a new cell phone that allows a user to listen to calls with the aid of the jawbone.
When the Pantech A1407PT cell phone is placed against the jaw, the mechanical vibration from the phone is conducted to the inner ear, which responds normally.
The result: the user hears the other person on the phone perfectly.

Copious measures have been taken on part of the Mizoram Government to substantially increase its exports of handlooms and handicrafts. This initiative is being supported by a marked growth in demand from overseas buyers has also been noticed.
Keeping in line with this objective, the Indian textile ministry has come up with a three year plan to internationally market handloom and handicraft items that range from traditional shawls to wall hangers.
Local designers like Lalrinsangi are helping artisans by providing them with expert knowledge regarding innovative designing for their products. Moreover, this kind of training will help weavers sell their crafts in international markets.

Consumers on shoe-string budgets, confused about whether to buy a desktop or laptop, now have reason to settle for the latter. Why? It’s been raining low-cost laptops lately.
After Asus and OLPC ($100 laptop), Allied Computers International (ACi) has now announced a low-cost compact laptop which comes for around Rs 15,000 in the Indian market.
ACi entered the Indian market in 2004 with laptops priced as low as Rs 29,999. Back in 2006, the company launched a laptop for Rs 19,999.

William (Bill) H. Gates is chairman of Microsoft Corporation, the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential. Microsoft had revenues of US$51.12 billion for the fiscal year ending June 2007, and employs more than 78,000 people in 105 countries and regions.
On June 15, 2006, Microsoft announced that effective July 2008 Gates will transition out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. After July 2008 Gates will continue to serve as Microsoft’s chairman and an advisor on key development projects. The two-year transition process is to ensure that there is a smooth and orderly transfer of Gates’ daily responsibilities. Effective June 2006, Ray Ozzie has assumed Gates’ previous title as chief software architect and is working side by side with Gates on all technical architecture and product oversight responsibilities at Microsoft. Craig Mundie has assumed the new title of chief research and strategy officer at Microsoft and is working closely with Gates to assume his responsibility for the company’s research and incubation efforts.
Born on Oct. 28, 1955, Gates grew up in Seattle with his two sisters. Their father, William H. Gates II, is a Seattle attorney. Their late mother, Mary Gates, was a schoolteacher, University of Washington regent, and chairwoman of United Way International.

Most the people even in India, where garlic and onion, have special place as essential ingredients in their curries, some people avoid them either due to some sort of religious belief or due to bad breath.
From time immemorial, in India it has served to help maintain good health, saving from various diseases and it is still getting strong by recognizing their medicinal properties..
Scientists have also found that onion and garlic both can help keep the heart healthy. According to a team from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, they recommended particularly garlic because it boosts the body’s ability to produce a compound called allicin that relaxes blood vessels, increases blood flow and prevents blood clots and oxidative damage.

AIZAWL: Mizoram is taking steps to dramatically increase the export of its handlooms and handicrafts. Demand from overseas buyers is on the rise.
The textile ministry has chalked out a three-year plan to globally market more handloom and handicraft items, from the traditional and popular shawls to wall hangers.
“We have launched a special handloom and handicrafts training programme to hone the skills of artisans to cater to international demands,” said Sahadev Singh, assistant director in the handicrafts department.
