Chennai: As part of its new initiatives in education, Adobe Systems has launched Creative Suite 3, a new licensing programme for schools and colleges that is aimed at promoting digital communication in education.
The programme, a combination of software, curriculum, training and certification, aims to distribute creative and cost-effective software products at reduced prices, to enable educational institutions to use industry-standard software for students and faculty, Sandeep Mehrotra, country sales manager, Adobe Systems, told reporters on Friday.
Schools and colleges can now deploy Creative Suite, an integrated platform for design, web and video content, as part of their course curriculum.
Two levels:
The site licensing programme operates at two levels: the K-12 programme for school children from kindergarten to Class XII and the term site license programme for universities.
While the K-12 license allows schools to install the software on a maximum of 500 computers, the term site license allows for flexible options.
“Educational institutions can deploy the software on school-owned or school-leased computers, as also home use for teachers. Upon deployment, the year-long curriculum can be used to develop digital communication tools and foundational career skills in software among students,” Mr. Mehrotra added.
The curriculum incorporates visual and digital design programmes, web design and digital video. Creative Suite 3 comes with a broad spectrum of creative options in print, web, mobile, interactive, film and video production and comes with an upgrade plan.
Certification programmes include Adobe Certified Associate and an Adobe Certified Expert. Training resources include a video tutorial.
“Adobe is looking at tying up with large institutions across the country and is targeting one million schools initially,” Mr. Mehrotra added.
