Mumbai (PTI): Provider of online products and services Yahoo India on Friday launched oneSearch SMS, the company’s latest search offering in the mobile space for Indian consumers to find any information.
OneSearch SMS will enable the customers to search for information anytime with the help of mobile phones.
It is a free flow search and would provide information across the sectors like weather, stocks, news, education, sports and others.
“The pricing would depend on as per the SMS charges by the respective mobile operators,” Yahoo India’s Chief Administrative Officer, Pranesh Anthapur told reporters here.
The service will also benefit a large percentage of mobile users who rely on SMS to stay connected, he said.
With the launch of oneSearch SMS in India, Yahoo is enabling all mobile users to search for almost any content through its 58,242 short code, he said.
“Presently, we have started the service in the four metros and we plan to provide the service to 10 cities by the year-end. We are also planning to provide the service pan- India by 2008,” he added.
OneSearch SMS will be available through all major operators including Airtel, Reliance Mobile, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, BPL Mobile, Aircel, Tata Indicom and Spice Telecom.
Along with oneSearch SMS launch, Yahoo has also enhanced its existing oneSearch WAP product by introducing new content clusters including local business listings, flight status information and Yahoo answers content.
This is in addition to other content clusters like web results, mobile web results, weather news, finance, web images and Flickr photos, Yahoo India’s, Senior Director, Mobile Products, Manish Dalal added.
